On a sick side note, VillageIdiot mentioned a picture he saw of this, with the terrorist holding up the guys head. The caption read "Sub Zero Wins."

I haven't / won't watch the video either. The audio stuff is mentioned in the article on kuro5hin. "Audio experts" believe the scream is dubbed in. There is also mention of the dialects being incorrect.

Speaking of the head being held up -- no blood was coming off of it.

I don't think there was anything gained in PR, and the CIA would have known that ahead of time. Those who did not already understand the evil of the terrorists before the beheading, are still clueless after the beheading.

Yeah, I'm not really pointing to any conclusions as to why something like this would be set up and by whom. But from what I gather, it just seems like something isn't quite right.

As for the evil of terrorists: to take it a step further, I think a lot of people forget that we are in the middle of a war and sick things happen in a war. The kinds of things taking place in this war are no different than any other war.. prisoners getting abused, attrocious acts of violence, etc. The difference is, now more than ever we have the capability to capture those images and beam them around the world in no time. There are tons of soldiers and civilians with digital cameras who can capture the things we are not used to seeing. Again nothing new, just new to our eyes.

Rumsfeld put it best when he said (and I paraphrase), "it's one thing to read about these things, and whole different thing to actually see them."

Well said, Ryan. Having spent almost 6 years in the television news business on-air, I totally agree. I'm glad Molly has been able to make it so far and be sucessful. I don't often jump to conclusions about the evils of management, but in television...that is often the case. Also On-air positions, I've found, are often a haven for mal-adjusted, socially dysfunctional individuals who can't function in a normal lifesyle.

I saw the video, and personally, it disgusted me, and reminded me why we're after these scum bags. I actually watched it a second time, because the first time, I didn't believe it. But you do hear horrifying screaming, and something that sounds like "No! No!". And when they're cutting into his neck, you see the pool of blood underneath...It looks distorted because of the bad quality, but you can see it, and when they hold his head up...you do see blood dripping from the bottom of his head. I really don't think that this country would do something that radical to prove a point. We already know these people are blood thirsty extremists...we don't need any more convincing. Now, dont get me wrong..Bush is to blame for all of this, but this is definately a true act of terrorism, and this man unfortunately had to be the victim used to remind us. My prayers and thoughts go to his family.

I have seen the video and it does in fact look fake. well parts of it do anyway. when the head is held up in mid-air there is no blood streaming from the bottom of the neck. everyone has experienced a small paper cut or something like that that just does not stop bleeding. do you really think that something as large as a head being detached from a body and held up in mid-air seconds after would not have any blood streaming from the opening ? I don't think that is even reasonable nor logical to try and perceive.
