As per the suggestion of Michael Moore, websites have begun open distribution (pirating) of Fahrenheit 9/11.

I'm not the biggest fan of this film, but it is worth a watch.. to be taken with a grain of salt.

The "grain of salt" thing ALMOST had me fooled!! Then after actually checking who wrote it and what the 'Independence Institute' actually is, it is like the pot calling the kettle black!! David Kopel is just as radical (in the other direction) as M&M is! Not only does his strategically named 'institute' want to end ALL, that's right, ALL public education and leave education to religious schools, but he is directly connected with funds to the Coors family. A www.fec.gov search quickly showed the Coors' like to give money to the RNC. This 'Anti-Moore' article is also directly connected through the 'Independence Institute' to a Mr. David Horowitz that was quoted at www.rpmn.org:

""(Horowitz) more recently has blamed slavery on “black Africans … abetted by dark-skinned Arabs” - a selective rewriting of history. He also claims that “there never was an anti-slavery movement until white Christians - Englishmen and Americans - created one.” That, of course, is false. Critics note that Horowitz is ignoring everything from the slave revolt led by Spartacus against the Romans and Moses' rebellion against the Pharaoh to the role of American blacks in the abolition movement.""

There were other extreme right wing groups that were connected like the Heritage Foundation and Grover Norquist.
So now I've taken the grain of salt with the film, but definately need something now for the salt.

Thanks for the deep digging, Hugh.

It is funny you say that you need to take some salt for the salt. When I originally composed the post, I had said something along those lines. I know the article comes from the right (who else would write an article attacking the film?). But I think it helps to balance some things things out. There are some clarifications of facts that shouldn't be taken at face value. For instance the "Saudis own 7% of the US" figure that everyone loves to throw around. The Saudis don't own 7% of ths US, this is a gross misstatement of figures.

I don't know who this Horowitz guy is or how he is connected to this article?

He is a shadowy figure with lots of money, a silver hand, and always has a cat on his lap. Inspector Gadget should have caught him a long time ago;)

But he didn't write this article. That is like saying I have strong connections to Dude because we use the same website.

Ok, so Man 1 supports a Liberal candidate/party/whatever. Man 1 starts a company with a catchy name like 'American Freedom Connittee for Freedom and the Justice of Freedom in a Free Society'. Man 2 works for AFCFJFFS and publishes articles against the Conservative Candidate that is running against the Bleeding heart Lib that is being funded by Man 1. :)
